While Apple caught a lot of its hardcore fans by surprise with the announcement of a new noise-cancelling AirPods 5 edition starting at a very reasonable $129 list price last month, I'm here today to tell you that the non-noise-cancelling AirPods 4 can still be a smart buy as well.

Released a couple of years ago at the same recommended price and with the same powerful Apple H2 chip under the hood as their non-Pro sequel, the fourth-gen "regular" AirPods can be had at the time of this writing for a cool $50.99 less than usual.

Google's top-of-the-line Pixel Buds Pro 2 are a lot costlier than the AirPods 4, but if you're an Android user and especially a Pixel handset owner, this Prime Day deal might prove extremely compelling right now.

Apple's entry-level AirPods 4 from 2024 may lack active noise cancellation, but their Personalized Spatial Audio technology with dynamic head tracking support, ultra-advanced H2 chip, IP54 water and dust resistance, and up to 30 hours of battery life makes them a very smart holiday buy this year for all Walmart shoppers with absolutely no strings attached at a hefty $51 discount.

Is that a big enough discount to justify the lack of active noise cancellation skills? I think it just might be, especially if you don't want to spend north of $100 for a new pair of true wireless earbuds this holiday season or you don't really care about losing yourself in the music to the point that you need to drown out all the noise around you during your listening sessions.

Interestingly, this killer new AirPods 4 deal comes from Walmart rather than Amazon, which means that you don't need a Prime membership or anything else of that kind to save big on what are still some of the best wireless earbuds around with top-notch overall audio quality (especially for their ultra-low price), flawless connectivity with new and old iPhones, respectable IP54 water and dust resistance, and solid battery life.

You get up to five hours of uninterrupted listening here, mind you, as well as a combined endurance rating of as much as 30 hours when you also factor in the bundled USB-C charging case. Those are great numbers for such affordable buds, and keep in mind that the reason the AirPods 4 haven't received a Prime Day deal this week is that Amazon no longer sells this particular model at any price (in brand-new condition, at least).

That means Walmart could run out of inventory at any moment too and never replenish its non-noise-cancelling AirPods 4 stock, so you might want to be quick and place your order at $79 before that inevitably happens.
