What do you do when you badly want a certain new phone but know you probably won't be able to afford it? One option is to wait for an official release and hope its rumored prices will not materialize as such, another is to wait a few more months after said product's launch for the inevitable Black Friday deals and discounts, and last but not least, you can choose to settle for an older edition of the same device at a significantly lower price.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7, for instance, is obviously not as powerful and as sophisticated as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will be in just a few weeks, but at a $500 discount, the 2025-released book-style foldable giant is clearly pretty hard to beat in terms of its value for your money.

Probably the best foldable phone money can buy in the US (at least for the next couple of weeks) is on sale at one of its highest ever Amazon discounts with no special requirements in a single 256GB storage configuration and just one Jet Black color option. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is an undeniable powerhouse and a beaut, and although it's still not conventionally affordable, it's a lot cheaper than everyone expects the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra to be.

If you want a little more flexibility and choice, Samsung will give you a $500 Galaxy Z Fold 7 discount with no obligatory device trade-in or other strings attached whatever color option or storage variant you prefer. This may or may not be a clearance deal ahead of the Z Fold 8's release, so act accordingly!

Keep in mind that the slowly aging super-flagship normally starts at $1,999.99, and if all those recent rumors concerning Europe and South Korea are correct, the Z Fold 8 Ultra's list price is likely to jump to $2,100 or $2,200 stateside. That means you're currently looking at spending $600 or $700 less for a Snapdragon 8 Elite powerhouse with two giant screens and four excellent cameras than you'll soon have to pay for a device with a largely unchanged design, better processor, and likely, a bigger 5,000mAh battery supporting faster 45W charging technology.

If you ask me, a 4,400mAh cell capable of charging at up to 25W rates is not such a bad compromise for this huge new discount, which is available both on Amazon and through Samsung's official US e-store with no strings attached and no special requirements. The difference is Amazon only has the entry-level 256GB storage variant in a Jet Black colorway in stock at $500 off its $1,999.99 regular price at the time of this writing, while the Z Fold 7's manufacturer can hook you up with the same hefty discount across all storage configurations and paint jobs.

Obviously, the 512GB and 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 7 models are... not affordable at $500 discounts either, but if you take into account what they have to offer, you're likely to reach the conclusion these are unmissable deals, especially with the Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 right around the corner.
