Huawei has made an interesting observation about its smartphones and smartwatches. According to Li Xiaolong, the CTO of Huawei Device Business Group, Huawei's smartwatches carry a larger market share than its smartphones. Li shared some information in a post on China's Weibo social media site. That post indicated that more than 30% of Huawei smartwatch owners carry an iPhone or an Android handset. This is possible because Huawei's timepieces support all mobile operating systems.

As of this month, January 2026, Huawei's smartphones have a 4% to 5% share of the global market, which puts Huawei handsets outside the top 5. Huawei's smartwatches, on the other hand, have a global share of 18% to 21% placing them first worldwide. Overall, Huawei has surprisingly been able to do better than most thought it would after facing serious sanctions from the U.S. that among other things, prevents Huawei from obtaining cutting-edge processors for its devices.

The battery life of the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro blows away the battery on the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Galaxy Watch Ultra

An attractive feature of Huawei's smartwatches is the battery life on its models. The company has been working on this and right now its GT series and Ultimate smartwatches have cells that run longer than competing watches from Apple and Samsung. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will typically deliver 42 hours of battery life as it syncs data all day and runs high performance tasks in the background. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 helps make up for its lower battery life by allowing users to get 12 additional hours of use after charging the device for only 15 minutes.

The battery life on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra beats the battery life of the Apple Watch Ultra 3. With moderate use, the timepiece can run three days between charges. Using "Exercise Power Saving mode," the battery powering the Galaxy Watch Ultra will track a continuous 48-hour journey using GPS. The 3nm Exynos W1000 chip is very efficient, more so than the S10 SiP (System in Package) chip used to power the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

How the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro offers such great battery lfe

The Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro blows away the battery life offered by the aforementioned Apple and Samsung watches. The combination of an 867mAh battery and a power efficient dual-chip architecture allows the watch to typically run for 12-14 days between charges. However, to achieve such amazing battery life, the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro features fewer third-party apps, offers integration with phone notifications that is not as seamless compared to the Apple and Samsung watch models previously mentioned, and there are limited voice assistant features.

Would you import a Huawei watch into the U.S.?

You might want to buy the Apple Watch Ultra 3 if you're in the iOS ecosystem and want features like Satellite SOS, and useful health sensors instead of a battery that runs for multiple days between charges. Buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra if you want the best battery on a watch that features Google Maps, the Google Play Store, and Android integration.

The Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro is not available in the U.S. If that's the watch you want and you live in the States, you will have to import it into the U.S. via international retailers like AliExpress or Amazon UK. However, your warranty might be severely limited if you go this route to buy the device. In the U.K., the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro is priced at £329 British Pounds ($440 USD). In Europe, the price is approximately €379 ($440 USD). In China, the watch will set you back 2488 yuan ($357 USD).

We gave the Huawei Watch GT 6 Pro a rating of 8 out of 10. You can read all about it right here by tapping on the link: Huawei Watch GT6 Pro Review: Long distance runner.
