iPhone Duo pre-orders are right around the corner. Apple will open the digital queues on October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, but there's a reason you might want to go to a physical store to collect your iPhone Duo: Apple is adding a nice little personal touch to every iPhone Duo.

You know how each and every iPhone greets you with a "Hello" screen the first time you turn it on? Well, employees at Apple Stores have been instructed to customize the iPhone Duo's startup screen so it displays the name of the person buying the phone instead of the boring "Hello."
The information comes from prolific industry insider and Bloomberg employee Mark Gurman. He posted on X that Apple will have a special system to customize the boot message.
Fun little touch for the iPhone Duo launch: Apple retail stores will have a system to customize the boot of the device with the buyer's name so it says "Hello, Mark" (for example) when it turns on for the first time. (US only, Duo only, English and Spanish).

According to Gurman, this fun little feature will be available only in the US, only on the iPhone Duo, and will support English and Spanish.
This option will be available only if you select the in-store pickup option or go and buy the iPhone Duo directly from one of Apple's physical retail stores.

Apple published detailed guidelines for devs on its official developer blog. | Image by Apple
This latest personal touch added to the iPhone Duo launch is another piece of the puzzle Apple has been putting in place to ensure a perfect iPhone Duo launch.
The company added detailed guidelines for developers on its official blog. The steps involved should guarantee that all apps and games developed for the iPhone Duo and published on the App Store look and work great on the new foldable.
It's a precaution rooted in history. Many Android foldables suffered from poor app optimization on launch day, resulting in a suboptimal user experience.
The nature of the App Store and Apple's closed ecosystem naturally helps prevent that, but Apple wants to be sure that apps and games look perfect on the Duo.

Apple is giving everyone a taste of the iPhone Duo early
The official dark mode iPhone Duo wallpaper looks stunning. | Image by Apple
When Apple first showed the iPhone Duo back on September 9, the UI displayed a beautiful background of dunes and mountains. The dark mode version of the background is even more stunning, showing the same mountain range under a night sky filled with stars. There are two versions of the light and dark mode wallpapers; one is a tad brighter than the other.
Of course, downloading an iPhone Duo wallpaper is not the same as having Apple's first foldable in your hands, but there are workarounds for people owning other foldables.
The iPhone Duo's UI animation has been a huge hit
The best iPhone Duo feature seems to be a UI animation. | Image by Apple
The best feature of the iPhone Duo seems to be a UI animation at this point, but I can't wait to get my hands on the wide foldable and see what's what.
The phone comes with a foldable screen featuring a 1.4:1 aspect ratio when unfolded. These proportions are almost identical to the classic full-frame IMAX 1.43:1 ratio. This would make watching IMAX movies on the iPhone Duo perfect, even though IMAX lashed out with a savage comment about the phone on its official X account.
