Xiaomi launches Mi 3 in India; device to be Flipkart exclusive

Xiaomi launches Mi 3 in India; device to be Flipkart exclusive
Earlier this month, we told you to expect the Xiaomi Mi 3 to be officially released in India. We can now tell you that the deed has been done. The Mi 3 will be offered exclusively from Indian online retailer Flipkart, starting July 22nd for 13,999 rupees ($233 USD). Registrations are now being accepted by Flipkart through July 21st. The next day, only those who have registered will be allowed to buy the model on launch day.

The Xiaomi Mi 3 is the manufacturer's flagship handset, offering a 5 inch screen with resolution of 1080 x 1920. That works out to a pixel density of 441ppi. A quad-core 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU is under the hood, along with the Adreno 330 GPU. In other words, this is far removed from one of the lower priced models that Xiaomi sells via the use of Hunger Marketing. That is when a small number of low priced units are sold, usually selling out within seconds.

Returning to the Xiaomi Mi 3, you will find 2GB of RAM on board, with 16GB of native storage available. The back camera is a 13MP snapper with an aperture of f/2.2. That should be wide enough to get some decent pictures taken, under low-light conditions. The front-facing camera weighs in at 2MP. The 3050mAh cell should keep the lights on, and Android 4.3 is pre-installed, along with MIUI 5.

Other Xiaomi products coming to India later this year are the Xiaomi MiPad, a tablet that just launched in China a couple of months ago. The 7.9 inch slate is the first on the planet to be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra K1 chip. Also expected to come to the country is the Xiaomi Redmi Note, a value priced phablet, and the low-end Xiaomi Redmi 1S. No dates were announced for the launch of those models in India.

Approximately $233 for this specs phone. Isn't it amazing? I think it could create fastest selling records in India too.

I'm going to get one, laying off my 520 as my back up phone. I previously thought of getting myself a Moto E to compliment my L1520, but now I'm getting the Redmi 1S.

Just logged in after long time to post this. Xiaomi is selling Mi 3 which has same specs as nexus 5 for half the price. Nexus 5 is selling for Rs 28K. Mi 3 has much larger battery compared to nexus 5 which is very important spec in my opinion. Mi 3 priced same as Moto G which is a huge hit in India. Funny thing is Mi 3 has much better specs in every other way. Good thing is they are going with flipkart instead of selling themselves on their own site. Indians are wary of trusting new company. Now they feel much better. They are also starting service centers in many cities which is very important. Redmi 1s has same specs as Moto G but they are selling for the price of Moto E (Rs 7K). Xiaomi entry not only hurt Moto E/G it also hurts Samsung, HTC, Nokia, Sony, LG, Micromax, Xolo etc.. even more badly. Only worry is about the stocks. India is a much bigger country and they need to have huge stocks in the pipeline.

Wow. The price..... I think all other brand will take a very big hit with this price. I wonder if cheap smartphone like Nokia lumia 520, Moto E/G, and BB Z30 is still relevant in India now.

You guys might want to ditch the Mi3's charger, provided USB cable has a diminutive 450 maH charging current (waaaay below the ideal 1000mah) which means, it will take you FOREVER to charge Do not use it...Use a SAMSUNG cable / charger instead, it charges much faster Aside from the dim/warm screen, that is my only gripe......loving this phone BTW

YUP..that's why it is cheap....SAMSUNG cables reach as high as 1900 mah current

Its the adapter that decides the current not the cable . when usb is used with a windows machine it provides 500mA current else whatever the adapter permits .

Yeah this phone will Annihilate the smartphone competition here. But the fun fact is that Xiaomi's launching the Mi4 on July 22 in China, that's the same day the Mi3 goes on sale here in India.

Moto is fu***d up in India now. Mi3's price is same as moto g's but with specs of nexus 5,lg g2,note 3,z1. This is indeed better than 1+shit or shit+1.
