Upstart carrier Republic Wireless is giving away a free Motorola Moto X as the grand prize for a new contest it is running. In addition to getting the phone gratis, you will also receive 12 months of Republic Wireless 3G service and a number of accessories for the phone, including Motorola Skip. And entering the contest is a breeze. Merely head over to the hybrid carrier's Facebook page and "like" them. Add some personal, but non-invasive identifying information, and you could win that Moto X you've been wanting.

Republic Wireless is offering the Motorola Moto X for an unsubsidized price of $299. Thanks to using a combination of Wi-Fi and Sprint cellular when needed, Republic offers unlimited talk, text and data in a range of four different plans that start next month. There is a Wi-Fi only plan for $5 a month. For $10 a month, you can get unlimited talk and text via Wi-Fi and cellular, with unlimited data on Wi-Fi only. For $25 a month you will be able to have unlimited talk and text using Wi-Fi and cellular along with unlimited Wi-Fi and 3G data. And lastly, $40 a month buys you unlimited talk and text over Wi-Fi and cellular with unlimited 4G data over Wi-Fi and Sprint. MMS is not yet available directly over the carrier's network although you can use a third party app to send out pictures and videos.
