Just because Huawei won't be selling its phones through any of the major U.S. carriers and Best Buy doesn't mean that you can't find the Huawei P20 Pro to be a desirable high-end handset. The U.S. government has warned stateside wireless operators and consumers about the close ties that Huawei has with the Chinese government. There are fears that Huawei's phones and networking equipment provide a backdoor connection to servers in China that are owned by that country's government.

Still, even with all of that in mind, there are probably more than a few Americans who would be willing to take the risk to own the P20 Pro with its triple camera setup (using Leica optics) on back. Reportedly, the three sensors will weigh in at 40MP, 20MP (monochrome) and 8MP (telephoto). The aperture on the cameras range from f/1.6 to f/2.4, and a 24MP selfie snapper will be found in front. The home grown Kirin 970 chipset offers Neural Processing Units for AI capabilities, and the AMOLED display is 6.1-inches with a 1080 x 2240 resolution. That works out to an aspect ratio of 19:9. The device will be equipped with a 4000mAh battery, 6GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of native storage. With an IP67 certification rating, the unit can be submerged in water as deep as 3.3 feet for as long as 30-minutes, and emerge unscathed.

On March 27th, Huawei will be unveiling the P20 and P20 Pro at an event in Paris. The event will start at 9am EDT/6am PDT on Tuesday, and you can watch it unfold live over YouTube. And if you really want to purchase the Huawei P20 Pro, you will be able to directly from Huawei's U.S. online store.
