Unannounced Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 allegedly shows up again: thin, metal profile visible
Not long after announcing the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and Galaxy Tab A 9.7, now Samsung is seemingly getting ready to unveil two other slates with 4:3 ratio displays measuring 8 inches and 9.7 inches, respectively. Expected to be called Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, the two upcoming devices could be officially presented in June as the successors to the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 from last year.

Earlier this week, we told you about a render that allegedly presented the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7, showing its front side. Today, a new render showed up, this time revealing the tablet's rear. As you can see below, the Tab S2 9.7 seems to be a pretty elegant device. Supposedly, it's made out of metal, measuring 237.17 x 169.58 x 5.5 mm - that's thinner than the iPad Air 2.

Unlike the Galaxy Tab A series, the S2 family will reportedly include high-end tablets with features like 2048 x 1536 pixels AMOLED screens, and octa-core 64-bit processors (probably the Exynos 7420 that's also powering the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge).

Both the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 should run Android Lollipop at launch. Now let's wait for Samsung to officially announce them, shall we?

Not to sounds negative, I like Samsung's new design language, especially with the S6 and S6 Edge. But what's with all their new products looking very similar to Apple devices?

Nope, that's because Apple copied one of Samsung designs so Samsung can now do what they like and Apple can do nothing about it, it's Apple problem and is what happens when you copy the Samsung 1st windows 8 phome

I don't necessarily agree, Apple has a very modern and simple design. You can't get any simpler then that and Samsung is going with what sells but with their on twist on it.

I don't see that much resemblance This looks more like the Nexus 9 or Xperia Z Tablet And the S6 looks more like the Xperia Z or their old Ativ S

How about a new Note tablet maybe? Or atleast update the old ones. I guess those products don't matter until Apple releases something similar.

So should they make a tablet that has only 3 corners instead of 4? I think one can only go so far when designing devices like this. A slab with a glass front, and then a back side. I think that is pretty much it. Rectangle or square.

You have to admit, 4:3 by 9.7" is a strange coincidence... Why did they not just make it 10"?

Blame the Nexus 9. The Nexi are typically unofficial benchmarks for Android.

So they're now copying aspect ratio and not design? Tell me, does apple have a patent on aspect ratio? Why always looking for something to pick on? Only wish the downvote button is still here, I wouldn't waste time replying.

Nope they are now using the same aspect ratio that Google is saying you need to use I.e. Nexus 9 as that is a ref for Oem on what to make, they have done it to make it easy for app makers to transfer apps over

I think it looks good, and I don't really see any of Apple's design DNA in it. I don't consider going 4:3 to be copying, but more like a logical step. 16:9/16:10 are ridiculous in portrait mode on something of that size.
