The giant OnePlus 15R battery may put even the OnePlus 15 to shame
OnePlus 15R could end up having one of the largest batteries on a widely available phone.
OnePlus is about to launch the OnePlus Ace 6T in China next week, which is expected to arrive as the OnePlus 15R in global markets on December 17. The company has already shared some details about both devices, but now we have the full information about the Ace 6T battery, and it sounds impressive.
After sharing a preview of the OnePlus Ace 6T specs, OnePlus president Louis Li took to Weibo with specifics (source in Chinese) about the upcoming phone’s battery. The device will feature an 8,300 mAh battery, and it’ll support 100W wired charging.
The Ace 6T is expected to launch as the OnePlus 15R in the global markets, so the international version of the device could feature the same battery. There’s a chance OnePlus opts for a slightly smaller battery with slower charging, though. The Chinese version of the flagship OnePlus 15 supports 120W charging, but the international variant comes with an 80W charger in the box and supports up to 100W charging.
Even if the international version of the OnePlus 15R doesn’t feature the same battery as its Chinese counterpart, it may still be one of the most interesting mid-range phones this season. The upcoming device will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset, a 165Hz display, a Glacier Cooling system, IP69-rated water and dust resistance, and a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner under the display.
Earlier rumors claimed that the double-camera system on the back will feature a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultra-wide shooter.
At launch, the OnePlus 15R will face the Pixel 9a, Galaxy A56, and iPhone 16e as its main competitors. However, early next year, devices like the Galaxy A57, Galaxy A77, iPhone 17e, and Pixel 10a will join the mid-range fight. None of them is expected to come anywhere close to the 8,300 mAh battery of OnePlus’ device, though.
With those giant batteries, OnePlus is addressing one of the main concerns of most smartphone users. I know my phone choices are dictated by the longevity of the battery, and I’m sure I’m not alone in this. However, we’ll need to wait and see if that is enough for OnePlus to win more users, especially in the US market.
