First Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium camera samples show up online

First Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium camera samples show up online
Sony's latest technological wonder, the Xperia XZ2 Premium is the company's first smartphone to boast a dual rear camera. The new flagship, which also sports a 4K HDR display, was officially unveiled back in April and it's already available for purchase in select countries.

Until then, those interested to see how well the Xperia XZ2 Premium performs in terms of camera skills in comparison with other flagships can check out some of the samples that have just popped up online recently.

It's worth mentioning though that these pictures have been taken with a pre-production unit, so the review and/or retail units may offer slightly different results.

Luckily, the pictures have been taken under different light conditions, so we get to see the Xperia XZ2 Premium's camera at work in all kinds of environments. Until we get our own review unit, just go ahead and check out the camera samples in the gallery below, and don't forget to share your impressions in the comments section.

These are impressive results if they aren't edited in anyway.

I think they were shot with the help of a tripod. Anyways, great results! They finally made it to the top.

That's awesome! I also read that they used a redesigned lens and a new image processor algortithm.

New setup of G lenses.. 7 instead of 6 used on previous generations. New JPEG with lighter post processing. The new ISP inside S845 and almighty AUBE. Imx400 ( 25mm, f1.8) + imx380-derivated ( 25mm, f1.6) Imx400 is actually the lower camera, the first is the black/white

Sample photos look great, software may be even polished further after launch. But there's no way I'll trade my (bulky) XZ2 for an even bulkier phone.

Sony Xperia XZ3 is thinner than XZ2P and XZ2...Xperia XZ3 will has the same camera like on XZ2P btw.

I'm not sure how they'll be able to make the phone thinner with a rather thick camera hardware though unless they totally revise the design and make the camera stick out just like the XZs/XZ1.

PHONE ARENA, according to the source the shots are from early May. So until the release they will improve software. Anyway, you wont rate above 8.7.

It's light pollution mate. You won't see any pitch black sky in any metropolis.

Humanoid Don`t say ALL phones... Xperia shows noise on any conditions, daytime, night.

Other phones hide noise behind low resolution because they know at 20 or 25 they would do worse. Also their selfies hide noise behind beauty or tan effect .

Sony and good photos? Am I dreaming or what? Hopefully, you can get the same results in real scenarios. Maybe, maybe Sony finally won't suck in the photo department.

Daytime samples are overexposed, and night are noisy, lanterns and illumination are overexposed. P20 samples are better, and Huawei has 3X zoom +5 hibrid, and great manual Long exposure, Raw. Sony never made great camerapone ))

I can never figure Sony out, for example thier decision to not release XZ2 Premium in the UK which is one of the few places that Sony phones still sell well.

These photo samples are impressive. Colors look natural and not oversaturated. Sony is putting thier optics to good use.

I'm not really impressed with those results tbh. The biggest complain I have with those images is the extremely heavy-handed sharpening applied regardless the lighting condition that seems to be introducing a lot of artifacts across the frame. Background blur looks really buzzy because of that and ringing artifacts are prevalent. And I'm seeing more colour noise than I would like. It's good to see the improved dynamic range in low light, though, something iPhone and Galaxy still suffer a LOT from. I'll refrain from commenting on detail level until the full resolution images are available (most likely excellent in daylight, better than most in low light), but one thing I can say for sure is that S9 and P20 Pro are going to be certainly better at hiding those artifacts.
