Sony Ericsson Nozomi may be SE’s next flagship: coming March 2012 with Ice Cream Sandwich, 12MP camera, 342ppi screen
We’ve already heard about the Sony Ericsson Nozomi, which may turn out to be SE’s next flagship, but now we have some more clarity about the actual specs of the device. Folks over at Chinese tech forum it168.com revealed that the Nozomi will feature plenty of horse power with a dual-core 1.5GHz processor working along with 1GB of RAM, all powering up the yet unreleased Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

If released today, the Sony Ericsson Nozomi would be the phone with the highest pixel density as it’s expected to sport a 4.3-inch screen with a a 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, resulting in the whopping 342 pixels per inch.

The Nozomi will also pack a 12MP Exmor R sensor, the biggest we’ve seen on an SE-made handset, and you’d be able to save images to the 32GB of built-in memory. The handset features a 1750mAh battery and will use a micro SIM card. Excited? The phone is expected to get unveiled in January 2012 with a roll-out planned for March 2012, and probably that’s when we’ll learn more about the exact pricing and availability.

Thanks, Philip!

I won't get another dual-core phone. I am waiting for a 28 nm, 1.5 GHz quad-core, 1 to 2 GB of RAM, with at least 720p minimum resolution on a 4.3" or above screen phone. Preferably a HTC or a Samsung phone. That will be my next phone. The Samsung Galaxy Note to me is EXTREAMLY sexy to me, but I will hold out for what I was just talking about. I love the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note. That 5.3” is very, very appealing though.

The rumor regarding the Xperia Duo was more exciting. . . Hope the 12mp image produced by this camera wont have the same issue with the 8.1mp (image compression) camera of the Arc. . . I hope their learning doesn't end with just the timely software update. . .

" the biggest we’ve seen on an SE-made handset," --> Wrong, what about the Sony Ericsson Satio with its 12MP camera?

I think they mean a handset with an Exmor R sensor. . . Not the number of MP

This will probably be the first dual-core smartphone from SE. It was about time!

12MP?! What do you think the size of the camera sensor will be? I'm hoping it would at least be bigger then the usual 1/23"... Also, according to xperiablog.net, it won't have an external storage extension. Means everything's inbuilt. And microsim too... =.=http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/09/02/exclusive-sony-ericsson-nozomi-landing-in-march-2012-with-1-5ghz-dual-core-4-3-inch-720p-screen/

Who cares, Sony Ericsson will be bankrupt soon anyway if they don't find another OS (as Google will be making their own phones, and SE would then be out of business with android) And Sony Ericsson being a half swedish company, i don't really want them to go bankrupt. Hopefully SE understands this.

"IF" still a big IF. . . that would only happen if google starts to alienate other phone manufacturers which might go down as one of the dumbest or brightest move in tech history. . . Still SE had Symbian partnership before which at present is an OS rapidly improvining in terms of functionality (though they are still behind in the OS marathon). . .

Peter, you really DO want people to use Bada don't you? Google MIGHT make their own phones, but android WILL remain open source, so companies like Samsung,SE,and HTC etc, WILL continue to use it... Android is the biggest thing in mobile right now,and will be untill something better comes out.

Good afternoon Peter I am surprised Sony Ericsson is still around. Though I think Android maybe there best chance for some success. Here we have sony stores which I have nicknamed "sorry stores". Because everytime I go in there. I say to myself I am sorry I am not paying those prices for there stuff and I am sorry i bothered going in there.

hope sony will sell their phone with cheap price...as they blamed their Tsunami in Japan for the overprice of the last year's mobile...I just can't leave sony because of these reasons: 1.samsung is very powerful but Apple is always running after them for patents...my friends will laugh at me "OMG,you bought the copycat!!!" 2.HTC mobiles have various problems like Death Grip issue, touchscreen issue 3.Nokia?...sorry symbian (or wp7 whatever) So my choice is sony...bit outdated though...but arc beats sensation, optimus 2X... Galaxy s II is a nice choice but the patent war is very annoying... Will be waiting for Nozomi....

So you let the patent wars which have nothing to do with you get in the way of buying the best phone out? (Galaxy S II)

depending on which comes out first, i MIGHT just get this first instead of the Prime.... hope SE makes it somewhat AMOLEDy.... it's hard going back to LCDs after experiencing the awesomeness that is S-AMOLED :P

I haven't tried it, but i can say that Sony's cameras are really good, recomend you have a look at them when you purchase your next camera.

So my dilemma... do i go for the new Experia Ray which is not that available in stores at the moment, or do I hold out for the Nozomi? Can anyone advise me, PLEASE? I use my phone for the usual calls and texts but it is my bible for photos and would be helpful to access my email and internet. Kindest thanks in advance.

its funny, my little brother is a victim of the 1disease, he's on att and was due for an upgrade from his old beat up sammy, which by the way still worked very well after being dropped on the ground, in a toilet, (his 18th b day party, weve all been there...lol) and it never once had a prob with the phone, it just looked beat to hell, so he buys in too the iphone bs hype and gets one, its been just two weeks and last night he told me he has never regretted anything more in his life then buying that phone in fact his exact words were....."its boring, it freezes all the time, talk and surf my a$$, this phone is garbage bro and im stuck with it for two years...." this is when i told him he was still in his 30 day return time, he then hugged me......
