Softcard mobile payment system available for Nokia Lumia 928 and Nokia Lumia 822 with Lumia Denim update
Last month, we told you how the HTC One (M8) for Windows supports the Softcard mobile payment system. Now, with the Lumia Denim update starting to make the rounds, Verizon customers sporting a Nokia Lumia 928 or Nokia Lumia 822 loaded with the latest OS build, will also be able to use Softcard. Formerly called ISIS, Softcard is owned by Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T.

Softcard requires a phone with NFC, a special secure SIM card, and the Softcard app. To pay using Softcard, you open the app and enter your PIN number. Select which card you want to use, and then tap the terminal with your phone to make the payment. Softcard welcomes cards from American Express, Chase and Wells Fargo.

The Softcard app is now available in the Windows Phone Store for the Verizon branded Lumia 928 and Lumia 822. With over 200,000 retail locations currently accepting Softcard, the mobile payment system makes checking out quick and easy.

Wow, Apple pay on iOS, Google Wallet on Android, and WP gets the crap carrier payment system that changed its name because it had the same name as a terrorist group. Sounds fair.

Actually WP has Wallet its been there before Apple Pay and Google Wallet if im not mistaken. This is simply a third party app. Guess you wouldn't know that unless you own a WP.

I wouldn't call this a third party, just like how the official Snapchat app isn't a third party app. Softcard runs its own service. Does that Wallet app support NFC payment though? I never thought it could.

Maybe you should do some reading. It doesn't do NFC unless you have a special SIM card, just like this Soft Card nonsense. Once again, WP is treated like the red-headed stepchild...by its creator.

That sucks. MS probably thinks it's not important yet. Apple was the same, didn't even support NFC payment till the current iPhone 6. At least there is Softcard now on WP. It's not the best but it probably works better than Wallet.

Accepted at 200k locations. A quarter of those are Subways. I don't think they will gain much traction in this crowded space with much larger competitors Apple Pay, Google Wallet and MCX CurrentC.
