Samsung cell phone shipments to grow 18 per cent in 2011
Korean manufacturing giant Samsung has already pushed its Android smartphone sales to number one in the US, but its plans for next year are even more ambitious with a targeted 18 per cent increase in shipments of cell phones to a total of 330 million handsets, according to a media report released today.

The 2011 growth is calculated based on the projected 280 million mobile phone shipments for this year, according to undisclosed senior Samsung official. At the same time, the company flourishes with sales of nearly 200 million cell phones for the first nine months of 2010. Take a look at the detailed breakdown per manufacturer below:

One of the main engines of Sammy's success has been the popular Galaxy S lineup and the unique Super AMOLED technology used for most of its high-end models. The 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet is coming up strong as well. The Koreans rank second in the world after Finnish Nokia in terms of phone production.
