Samsung Galaxy A 2017 series will be announced on January 5
Shortly after implying that the upcoming Galaxy A 2017 series would include water-resistant phones, Samsung today confirmed the name of the new series, as well as the date of its announcement.

Thanks to an invite sent to the press by Samsung Malaysia, we now know that the Galaxy A 2017 family will be officially announced on January 5 - that's next week.

"This year, ring in a new wave of adventures and accomplishments to look forward to. Whether you live on the edge, or bask in spontaneous moments, embrace it and Live Unplanned," reads the invite. While this particular invite is related to an event held in Malaysia, Samsung will almost certainly also bring the next-gen Galaxy A series to CES 2017, which starts on January 5 in Las Vegas.

The new Galaxy A family will include a 4.7-inch Galaxy A3 (2017), a 5.2-inch Galaxy A5 (2017), and a 5.7-inch Galaxy A7 (2017). All three handsets seem to be borrowing a bit from the design of the Galaxy S7, thus looking more refined than the Galaxy A 2016 models released this year. Before we get to know where and for how much the new smartphones will be launched, here's a detailed look at what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy A 2017 family.

Just give them decent processors, that's the only likely problem with these. Mali T820/T830MP2 isn't helping anyone

the real problem here is overpriced, sluggish Touchwiz and bloatwares

Sluggish Touchwiz? Currently is one of the fastest skins on the market. Even today the new Pixel fails to beat the S7. Bloatware? You mean software which is much better than Google's crap but Google forces everyone to install their services even when manufacturers have their own.

A5 and A7 are going to sport Mali-T830MP3 clocked at 950MHz. GFXBench shows that this means about 40-50% performance increase compared to Adreno 506 in Snapdragon 625. They're going to be really decent Moto Z Play competitors.
