Rogers launches Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
At the end of last month, we informed you that Rogers was expected to launch a full release of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 on June 30th. It's a week early, but the Canadian carrier has made it official and Sony Ericsson's lone Windows Mobile device is now available on contract for the first time in North America. With the traditional Canadian 3 year contract, the handset will cost you $249.99. A 2 year pact has a price tag of $449.99. the price for 1 year is $549.99 while off contract, the price is $599.99.

While reports of an Xperia sequel were hot and heavy earlier this month with spy shots adding to the legitimacy of the reports, no official word of an X2 has been made. The X1 is known for having the unique panels centered interface that runs on a 3 inch display of 480 x 800 pixels. A side sliding QWERTY allows for physical text input. Other features include a 3.2MP camera with AF and flash, FM radio,  Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.

For those in the States looking to pick up the Xperia X1, an unlocked version has been available through Best Buy Mobile. The catalog shows a price of nearly $800 for the handset.
