Pay with a $100 bill for the Alcatel 1X Android Go phone and get change back; device is U.S. bound
Alcatel's first Android Go phone, the Alcatel 1X, is not exactly a powerhouse. With a 5.3-inch display carrying a 480 x 960 resolution, the phone is powered by the MediaTek MT6739 chipset. The latter is equipped with a quad-core CPU running at a clock speed of 1.3GHz, and features the PowerVR GE8100 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 16GB of native storage. A 32GB capacity microSD slot is available for those who need to expand their storage capabilities. An 8MP snapper adorns the back of the unit, and there is a 5MP selfie snapper in front. Keeping the lights on is a 2460mAh battery, and Android 8.1 is pre-installed.

The great thing about the Alcatel 1X is the price, which will be under $100 in the U.S. Yes, Virginia, the phone is coming to the states. If you're worried about the less than overwhelming specs, Google has a series of apps that will work on Android Go handsets. And guess what? There is a fingerprint scanner on board.

Also coming to the U.S. is the Alcatel 3V. A step up specs-wise from the Alcatel 1X, this model carries a 6-inch LCD screen with a 1080 x 2160 resolution. Yes, this will sport the 18:9 aspect ratio that has quickly become something of a hallmark of modern smartphone design. A MediaTek MT8735 SoC drives the device, and is equipped with a quad-core CPU running at a clock speed of 1.3GHz. Crunching graphics is the Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. The 3V includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage (9GB is available to the user). A 128GB capacity microSD is available to those who need additional storage.

The Alcatel 3V offers a dual camera setup on back (12MP, f/2.2 + 2MP, f/2.4) and a 5MP front-facing camera. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery, and Android Oreo is pre-installed. The price of the phone in Europe is €189 ($232 USD).

The manufacturer says that both models will be offered in the U.S. sometime during the "coming months." Alcatel will announce retail availability for both the 1X and 3V as it gets closer to the stateside launch of these phones.
