Oppo R9S and R9S Plus seemingly confirmed by official-looking poster

We've been tracking the purported Oppo R9S for a while now. The device gained TENNA certification in August and appeared late last month through China's CCC authority. A couple of days ago, an Oppo R9S promo poster was spotted in the wild, which aligned with rumors of 4 GB RAM, a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 3010 mAh battery. Another piece of promotional material has been outed, which indicates that a larger R9S Plus model will also be in the offing.

Shared by the folks at PLAYfuldroid who claim the render is official, we see two versions of the handset side by side. As a refresher, we expect the R9S to pack a 16-megapixel camera with a 13-megapixel sensor on the front, a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 display, a Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The supposed 3010 mAh battery should keep the device running for a decent length of time given the middle-road specs, and may also benefit from Oppo's Super VOOC quick charging tech.

Where the R9S is largely based around the Oppo R9, we expect the R9S Plus to be a bumped version of the pre-existing R9 Plus. No details are available as yet, but the current model sports a 6-inch 1080 x 1920 display, Snapdragon 652 with 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage and a 4120 mAh juice pack.

Oppo will apparently send out invitations next week for a special event to take place later this month, when both models are set to be showcased. We'll be sure to pass on any other info related to the R9S handsets as available, so stay tuned.
