OnePlus announces its first carrier partnership
Yesterday, OnePlus had a pretty important announcement to make, revealing that interested customers now no longer need invites in order to purchase the OnePlus One smartphone (which was pretty hard to find prior to this, especially in 2014). Today, OnePlus had another somewhat big announcement to make: its very first carrier partnership.
Starting tomorrow, April 22, the OnePlus One will be available via Maxis, one of Malaysia's top mobile carriers, both online, and in retail stores. Interestingly, the 64 GB version of the handset will cost 1,199 MYR unlocked - about $330, which is slightly lower than the phone's price in other markets ($349). While this is a local announcement, it is important, because it puts OnePlus - still a small and very young company - on the right track to start fighting major smartphone manufacturers.

Later this year, OnePlus will introduce two new handsets: the OnePlus 2, and another (cheaper) model which hasn't been named yet. Most likely, at least one of the two upcoming smartphones will also be sold via carriers, although, for the beginning, the OnePlus 2 will only be available with invites.
