OnePlus 5 review: 10 key takeaways

The OnePlus 5 is a nearly $500 phone that shoots for the stars... the stars being Apple's iPhones and Samsung's Galaxies.

It offers a dual camera system, the fastest performing chip on Android, and an... interesting new design.

In many ways, this latest OnePlus 5 is an evolution over the OnePlus 3T and the 3: it does not make any tectonic shifts to the software experience, or anything else, but slowly builds up upon a successful formula. We've lived with the phone for a couple of weeks now and we have the detailed review here. If you want a short and easier-to-digest slideshow summing up all that you should know about the OnePlus 5, though, look right above.

My only problem with 1+5 is small screen, wrong resolution for flagship.

I think 1+ need to use 6" & 2K/QHD screen.

5.5" & FHD = not flagship

1+5 is meant to provide flagship level specs and not to be a flagship itself. Oneplus do not use flagship killer for 1+5. It does provide flagship level specs in some categories.

Wrap up: This phone is a pure waste of money for a flagship lover. Sorry to hurt delusional 1+ minions. Just cry me a river and go get yourself a true premium flagship aka Samsung Galaxy S8, problem solved!

Former 1+3T user for 4 months.

Couldnt agree with you more. Changed to P10Plus and I am happy with it. No bugs/issues/signal lost/overheat/jelly effect or what so ever.

Even Xiaomi make better phone than 1+

Forgot to include their phones have the jelly effect when scrolling because they needed to invert the screen to make room for the dual camera. They may or may not be able to fix it with a software update.

And there's no way that they didn't know about it during testing. They planned to try their luck with the consumers.

10 key takeaways (failures)

1-overpriced
2-clone design-which is ugly btw
3-just FHD not QHD. 4 years now with the same regurgitated screen
4-lying regarding benchmarks
5-lying regarding 2x zoom
6-jelly scrolling
7-no OIS , makes video capture unbearable to look at
8-no water resistance
9-no sd card slot
10-garbage phone which is no flagship killer

11-Left/Right Microphones are reversed in landscape-mode.

The only thing on this list should be jelly scrolling. OnePlus deserves nothing but this to be hammered until they fix it.
