Ocean Drift is the most ridiculously difficult game we've ever played
Some games for your phone tend to be infuriatingly difficult yet extremely addictive: we've even made a list with the 8 most enraging and challenging games for Android and iPhone, but this latest one - Ocean Drift - seems to beat them all when it comes to the level of maddening difficulty.
Ocean Drift has you piloting a boat through gorges, all drawn in a Minecraft-like blocky style. The controls are deceptively simple: tap left to go right and tap right to navigate your boat left. Yet every slight mistake, every time your boat just slightly touches the shore results in a violent crash and a restart of the level. Add to that increasingly difficult and sharp turns, sea creatures that attack you with a ferocious speed, and the game becomes so challenging.
The problem with Ocean Drift is, of course, psychological: we're used to winning in games, and losing time and time again can easily push you off center and have you looking for easy solutions. None are to be found in this game.
But that's also the beauty of Ocean Drift: a game with no annoying ads, completely free (on Android that is, it costs $2 on the Apple App Store) and extremely challenging. Let us know if you get past level 10 and don't throw your expensive phone away in range when you fail level four for the 100th time. You've been warned.
