Nokia N8's camera software gets a major update in the form of a Nokia Beta Labs app
Nokia's camera guru Damian Dinning promised that the work to make the most out of the huge camera sensor in the Nokia N8 will never cease, and today he delivered. The camera team issued a separate app today, which can be downloaded as a .sis file from Nokia Beta Labs.

Bear in mind that, after you install the app, you sometimes have to reboot the handset to see the new interface and functionalities, at least we had to in the office.

The customized Symbian Anna firmware update for the Nokia N8, which started rolling last week, brought continuous autofocus and 30fps HD video capture, among other improvements. Now what this additional app that was released today brings, besides the nice new interface with easily accessible shooting modes, is smooth video capture while panning, and a close-up video mode, which now works from about 4" (10 cm) distance.

Hit the source link for Damian Dinning's technical details on the added goodness, or go directly to Nokia Beta Labs to download it and see for yourself. Oh, and don't bug Damian with comments, it seems that he has been hurrying the camera app update out of the door before he goes on vacation.

I know, I have been saying that from the very first comparison. Sad, they have had the iPhone 4 twice now, but the Nokia N8 is still missing!

i hope they include it in the next one ... if there is one .. i think every one want to see it in normal conditions againt the other phones . tough we know it is the best in the market as for now . but still we want to see it compete against the others

We all know that the N8 would be the winner and by a great margin. There's no point in comparing what we know it's the best camera smartphone with other models. But there's much interest in figuring out what are the other places belonging to. Thus, it's more efficient to compare those more popular phones. Peace :)

The Anna update brought 30 fps; didn't you read the article?

Yesterday I updated to Anna and got problems. The default browser and all other Nokia apps couldn't connect to internet, except when using wifi. But Opera, Joikuspot and other app that i had installed before the update were working properly. Tried to solve the issue in destinations but failed. Then today i installed the camera update and rebooted. tried it out and the phone froze. So i rebooted again but file browser wouldn't work and so i tried to restore factory settings. The unthinkable happen, the phone just blacked out and the best it does now is show a white screen before blacking out again. Did these updates just cause me all these problems? Were they worth it?
