Press image of Nokia 9 PureView surfaces with 5 cameras, in-display fingerprint sensor
We've already seen renders of the Nokia 9 PureView, but today tipster extraordinaire Evan Blass posted press images of the phone (see image at the bottom of this article). We get to see the Zeiss branded penta camera setup on the back of the handset, the notchless display in front, and the in-screen fingerprint scanner that the device will be equipped with. Blass' tweet also reveals that the Nokia 9 has the code name of "Beholder."

The Android One branding on back means that the Nokia 9 will most likely launch with stock Android 9 Pie installed, and we expect to see the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform under the hood. The device will reportedly be equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. The handset is believed to carry a 5.9-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio, and features an aluminum frame and a glass back.

We could see the phone introduced next month during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 8th to January 11th, 2019. If the Nokia 9 fails to appear in "Sin City" next month, we should see the phone meet the light of day in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress (MWC). That trade show will run from February 25th to February 28th, 2019.

I have a feeling that if it indeed releases with a Snapdragon 845 people are going to be upset that it’s not an 855 even if it has some other crazy good features that sets itself apart. Mind you they’ll be the same people that probably don’t even use a tenth of the phones full processing power on a daily basis.

It will also be the ones that had no intention of buying this smartphone in the first place, who just like complaining for the sake of complaining.

Some people think that whatever they have to say is pure gold and the world has to hear it.... or read it in this case.

Exactly.

If it will be released next year then it shouldn't come with a year-old SoC, unless it's priced significantly lower than the rest of flagships coming out in 2019 with SD855. Even midrange phones from OnePlus or Poco use the newest processor available every year, so "normal people won't be able to notice the difference in performance even if a phone used a year-old processor" argument cannot be used as an excuse to cut corners on their most expensive offering.

“Unless priced significantly lower”. So you just decided that SD855 is more expensive than any other nice hardware they introduce on their phone??

Again, having "other nice hardware" is simply not a good excuse to cheap out on one of the most important aspect of a phone(if it will carry the same tag as others, of course). Do you see Samsung using previous year's chipset for their flagship lineup? Galaxy S9+ had a top quality construction, display, camera, speakers but it had SD845 instead of SD835. They didn't cut corners here, so I expect Nokia to do the same.

"Do you see Samsung using previous year's chipset for their flagship lineup ?" Galaxy Tab S4, flagship tablet, last year chipset (SD835). Doesn't stop the tablet to be a powerhouse.

If this costs around 500$ I may consider it. Otherwise I'll wait for the pixel 4

Dear androiduser, forget the 500$ price tag, this will be around 700$ for sure, because of the advanced camera setup.

bs , if i'm paying flagship level i want latest soc , people care about it bc it's awesome and feels great to have the latest soc , people that don't really care are buying galaxy or iphone anyway , nokia is doing flagship phones wrong, there is reason oneplus/pocophone became popular, people like latest soc, this one will fail too and probably get updates like 8 sirroco after nokia 5/6

The price hasn't even been announced, so it's a bit premature to assume it will launch at a flagship price. And it's not like the SD845 will degrade in performance simply because the 855 comes out, lol. The 845 powers many of today's flagships, including the OnePlus 6T, which is what a certain pompous, overzealous, obsessive troll likes to say is "the best phone ever" .

lol , say what i think or you are a troll. we'll see no need to fight , i say this device will be irrelevant maybe before it even comes out when new phones are announced at mwc and i'm not happy about it i'm a nokia fan no idea why you are mad at me i won't tell anybody to not buy it you have my word.

Lmao spoken like a true troll. And how does my response convey anger in any way? Defensive much? All I did was list factual elements, and here you go jumping to conclusions and acting ridiculous. But don't worry, I won't tell anyone that you're Defensive Dennis that jumps to erroneous confusions, that's our little little secret, scouts honor.

Dude you're taking this way too personal like you're CEO of Nokia or something, you need to let it go. but if you're Nokia CEO or something I wish your company the best.

Lmao I'm taking it personal because I posted facts?? LMAO LMAO LMAO LMAO That's a classic troll line from you. Anyone reading this can see that YOU are taking this too personal, dudette. All I said was you can't say anything about the price since it hasn't been mentioned yet, and that the SD845's performance won't degrade once the 855 is released. I even added the "lol" at the end to show I wasn't serious. I think you're just embarrassed because what I said made more sense than what you said. It's ok homie, it happens. Let it go. If you think that's me "taking this way too personal", then I also have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Real cheap too, lol.

Lol I agree. Literally it's just that one person taking things way too serious as if it personally affected them or something.

You don't get to cry wolf just because you disagree with everything you see outside of your own comments.

You don't get to troll with your smoke and mirrors just because you don't agree with or don't like something that someone else does.

You don't get to cry troll just because someone said something on the internet that you didn't like. It doesn't work that way so stop crying.

You don’t get to cry wolf just because someone said something on the internet that you don’t like and pointed out your troll smoke and mirrors routine. It doesn’t work like that, so stop crying.

Oh look, stealing one of my lines again. It's not my fault if you continue to cry wolf when there's no wolf around. Maybe you should just stop with the tears.

Oh look, you're foolish enough to think that you created the English language. It's not my fault you continue to cry wolf when someone points out your trolling. Maybe you should just stop with the salty tears.

The vast majority of people buying phones don't even know what a SoC is never mind which the latest ones are.

I don't think using the 845 is a bad idea. I think they have to price it competitively especially when the excellent 6T exists, the best phone ever. I applaud you for being a reasonable and mature user that doesn't act like a pompous, overzealous fanboy.

I am so ready for this! Can’t wait for the official unveiling to see what this is all about. Even with the SD845 (which is the current, very capable flagship SoC), this seems to be shaping up to be a really good smartphone. Price it right, nail the image quality of the penta-lense, and you’ll have a hit on your hands, HMD. You’ve been doing well by the Nokia name so far, so I expect no less with the Nokia 9.

The Nokia 9 looks beautiful, tbh. This smartphone is a real looker, even with what some refer to as the “ugly” five camera setup on the back.

100% agree. This looks better than I thought it would. I also like that there is no notch.
