Nintendo to put an end to its first entry into the smartphone app ecosystem
Nintendo's first push into the mobile gaming, Miitomo will be discontinued effective May 9. The Japanese company announced that users of Miitomo mobile app will not be able to continue to purchase premium coins as of right now.

According to the official statement, those who still use the app will receive daily login bonuses until May 9 in the form of Miitomo coins and game tickers. These bonuses can be used to play Miitomo Drop or take advantage of other features such as the Miitomo shop.

In case you're wondering what will happen if you fire up the app after May 9, Nintendo says that all users will see a message that will tell them the service has ended. Also, none of the app's features will work any longer.

Keep in mind that you will not be able to view Miifotos, including those shared to social media channels, but you can save them directly on your smartphone before May 9. Furthermore, all themed icons and clothing items that you get in Miitomo and used on your Nintendo Account or the Super Mario Run game will no longer display after May 9.

Finally, although you will be able to transfer Mii characters to your Nintendo Account by linking it to Miitomo, their personality and other info will not be saved.
