NVIDIA has just announced that it is now rolling out a new update for the Shield Tablet, which is dubbed “Upgrade 5.3.” The update contains important system enhancements, as well as security and bug fixes.

Among the most important changes, NVIDIA mentions the addition of the November security patch and some system stability and security optimizations. The full changelog as published by NVIDIA is available below:

  • Addresses Wi-Fi vulnerabilities (KRACK and Broadpwn);
  • Fixing connectivity issues with Zagg Bluetooth keyboards;
  • Overall system stability and security optimizations;
  • Update to Android Security Patch Level November 5, 2017.
There aren't any changes regarding the Android version, so owners of the Shield Tablet remain stuck on Nougat as NVIDIA announced not long ago. However, since it contains many security-related improvements, it's important to download the update as soon as it becomes available to avoid any unwanted third-parties take advantage of newly discovered exploits.

This would be the fourth update NVIDIA released for the Shield Tablet, and probably the last we'll see this year. Hopefully, the device will continue to receive updates in the months to come.
