Motorola Moto Z2 Play receiving Android 9.0 Pie update
The Moto Z2 Play is an old mid-range smartphone that simply won't die. The device made its debut on the market more than two years ago and is already running Android 8.0 Oreo. However, Motorola plans to breathe new life into the phone by releasing yet another update for the mid-end handset.

The folks over at XDA Developers report the Moto Z2 Play is now receiving an OTA (over the air) update to Android 9.0 Pie. It's the last major OS update that the Moto Z2 Play will get, so owners should consider upgrading to a new phone for Android 10 or later.

Motorola started the rollout in Brazil, as it always does, so it might take some weeks to arrive in other countries. The United States will probably among the last countries to get the update, but we hope it will be deployed by the end of the year.

The few screenshots posted by those who received the update confirm it comes with the September security patch, along with all Android Pie's new features. For any other specific changes that Motorola included in the update, you'll just have to wait and see.
