Minecraft Pocket Edition comes exclusively for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, themed handset up on eBay

Just as promised, today Sony Ericsson sent us a press release that the mobile version of the hugely popular Minecraft is coming as an exclusive title to the game-oriented Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.

The title is now Minecraft Pocket Edition, and Mojang, the developer behind it, even put a themed Sony Ericsson Xperia Play up on eBay for sale. At last check, it had accumulated $1350 in bids, so there's some healthy interest towards such a souvenir.

Minecraft is the most downloaded paid independent game for the PC, and porting it over for exclusive use of the physical gamepad on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is certainly a smart move to boost interest in the handset, regardless of what you think about the design of the limited edition Minecraft phone on eBay.

The price of Minecraft Pocket Edition for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play on Android Market is $6.99.
