Meizu M5 caught on camera, benchmark confirms MediaTek chipset, 2GB RAM

The Pro 6s won't be the only handset Meizu launches in the coming weeks, especially if we are to believe the latest rumors related to the Chinese company's smartphone plans. Aside from the high-end Pro 6s that's expected to be unveiled on October 31, Meizu will also introduce a very cheap Android smartphone, the M5 or the Blue Charm 5.

Since Meizu seems to have developed a preference for MediaTek, the M5 will be powered by a chipset built by this company. Luckily, thanks to Geekbench, we already know the processor that will be included inside the Meizu M5.

The listing in the benchmark's database reveals Meizu M5 packs an octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor, along with 2GB of RAM. The amount of storage is not mentioned in the benchmark test, but rumor has it that the M5 will include 16GB of internal memory.

Software-wise, Meizu M5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, though some of the live pictures of the phone mention YunOS 5.1.1 as well.

Other highlights of the phone that have yet to be confirmed by the Chinese company include 5-inch display that supports HD (720p) resolution and a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

Meizu could launch a slightly improved version of the M5, which is said to feature 3GB RAM inside, but there might be other enhancements included as well.

The M5 is likely to be unveiled ahead of Meizu's sales scheduled for November 11. While we don't have any details on the phone's price tag, we expect it to cost the equivalent of around $100. Obviously, the improved version of the M5, if there will be one, will be priced slightly higher.
