July Android Security update can now reportedly be coaxed out of all Pixel, Pixel 2 devices
Back on July 2nd, Pixel and Nexus devices received the July Android Security update. But for some reason, not all Pixel and Pixel 2 users received it. Now, it appears that the update is available for all Pixel and Pixel 2 users to coax out of their phone. The date of the security patch is July 5th, 2018. In addition to improving security features on the phones, the update also improves the "consistency of Wi-Fi connections with certain routers for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL."

You can try to coax out the July Android security update by going to Settings > System > System Update. Before starting the process of loading the update, make sure that you are connected to a Wi-Fi network, or have a strong cellular connection. In addition, the battery on your Pixel or Pixel 2 should be fully charged.

Don't expect too much here. Your handset will remain on Android 8.1 Oreo. We can tell you that Google's timeline for Android P calls for the next major Android build to be released sometime this quarter. The third quarter runs from July to the end of September.
