Huawei's new budget smartphone surfaces with fingerprint scanner on board
The Huawei P8 is a high-end handset. Of that, there is no denying. And the P8 will never be confused for the new budget phone that has leaked from Huawei's camp this morning. This unnamed model is expected to be priced at the equivalent of $161 USD. Amazingly, for that price you will have a push-to-read fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. The model will also support all network bands.

These two features will become standard fare on all future Huawei smartphones according to Wu Zhou, the manufacturer's VP. That means that pricing for fingerprint scanning modules has dropped dramatically to the point where it can be employed on a budget handset. The next wave in security systems seems to be the iris scanner that is found on the front-facing camera of the Vivo X5 Pro. We all have unique patterns in our eyes and the scanner is able to verify the user's identification with this technology.

There really isn't much else to report on with this entry-level Huawei unit. We can tell you that using your fingerprints to unlock your handset, and to make mobile payments, isn't going to be enjoyed only by those who can afford an expensive smartphone. As soon as we learn more about this model, we will pass the information along to you.

Thanks for the tip!
