Besides the iPhone 18, iPhone 18 Pro, and the first foldable iPhone Ultra, Apple is rumored to be working on a wide range of other devices. The long list includes smart glasses, home devices, and the rumored AirPods with cameras, among others. After the Siri AI announcement last week, we’re now starting to hear when some of these products may launch.
The camera-equipped AirPods and iPhone Ultra 2 may launch next fall
Apple is planning to release the first pair of AirPods with integrated cameras in the fall of 2027. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the new earbuds will appear alongside the second generation of the foldable iPhone Ultra and could be Apple’s first AI-focused wearable device.
Originally planned for a 2026 release, the new AirPods are expected to come with cameras inside the stems and lights that will indicate when data is being uploaded to the cloud. The buds could serve as the “eyes” of the upgraded version of Siri, giving it “visual context” about the user’s surroundings.

Apple has also scheduled the launch of the second generation of its foldable phone, which bears the code name V78. Working on the iPhone Ultra 2 is considered a commitment from the company to make its foldable phones an annual occurrence.

The anniversary iPhone is on the list, too

In his report, Gurman also mentioned the rumored 20th anniversary iPhone, which will have two models, dubbed V73 and V74. They will be the successors of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max and may come in similar sizes, though with new edge-to-edge displays with curved glass.
These claims appear to be in line with earlier rumors we’ve heard about Apple’s future plans. Surprisingly, none of the company’s main competitors appears to be preparing an answer to these devices.
Samsung does plan completely new earbuds, but the rumored Galaxy Buds Able are expected to be a simple open-ear model, not an AI-powered gadget. The Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro have Galaxy AI features, but they’re mostly centered around hands-free access to Bixby, Gemini, and Perplexity. Meanwhile, we haven’t even heard about a Pixel Buds Pro 2 sequel, though it’s about time for one.
We may still see a competing pair of buds by the time the AirPods with cameras launch, if anyone beyond Apple ever considers them a good idea. However, with the ongoing component shortage and John Ternus taking over as CEO of Apple, even the folks in Cupertino can change their minds.
Probably unnecessary
I can’t imagine earbuds with cameras being a major success, and I won’t be surprised if that specific product never launches. However, the anniversary iPhone and the second-generation iPhone Ultra are certainly in the pipeline, and I can’t wait to learn more about them.
