HTC One M8 Android M update to debut Sense 7 UI, HTC could skip past Android 5.1 Lollipop
Ever since HTC launched the One M9 this past Spring with Sense 7 on board, HTC One M8 owners have been eagerly waiting to get a taste of HTC's latest Android user interface. Although HTC previously announced that Sense 7 will reach the One M8 this August, a new Tweet from HTC's Mo Versi reveals that owners of HTC's flagship of yesteryear will have a bit more waiting to do.

According to HTC Product Manager Mo Versi, Sense 7 will be bundled with the Android M update for the HTC One M8. Since Android M will be released later this year, this means that the latest HTC UI won't be coming to the One M8 until later this year at the earliest. Depending on the exact date when Google signs off the final version of Android M and ships it to device makers, it wouldn't be unthinkable for Android M and Sense 7 to reach the One M8 in early 2016.

One thing that's not entirely clear is whether this means that the HTC One M8 will skip past the Android 5.1 update for the One M8. With the HTC One M9, the latest flagship from the struggling smartphone maker, recently starting to get its Android 5.1 Lollipop update, many fans certainly hoped for the same update to soon start rolling out to the One M8. Android 5.1 Lollipop doesn't bring any new significant feature to the table, being focused on bug fixing and battery improvements, meaning that this wouldn't be a terrible loss for One M8 owners, especially since they have Android M too look ahead towards.
