Gionee Elife S8/E8 (SN9008) stars in video
We've been telling you about a rather beastly handset from Gionee which went through the GFXBench test carrying a 4.6-inch, 1440 x 2560 QHD resolution. Our calculator nearly blew up when we figured out that this device had a record breaking 639ppi pixel density. The Gionee Elife E8 was also teased to have the capability to interpolate a 100MP image from its 23MP rear camera. But there seems to be some confusion between the Elife E8 and a handset called the Gionee Elife S8.

So before you call Guinness, we need to see if there is a real record here. Both models appear to carry the same SN9008 model number. Considering that TENAA is a government agency, and there are ways to fool around with benchmark tests, perhaps we should defer to TENAA in this situation.

Other sources are confirming that the GN9008 features a 6-inch screen, and a hands on video allegedly showing the device also confirms this. The GN9008 (it is the only constant name or number relating to the phone) is powered by the MediaTek MT6795 SoC which will contain an octa-core 1.9GHz CPU and the IT PowerVR Rogue G620 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 32GB of native storage and a fingerprint scanner is located under the 23MP rear snapper. And yes, the camera does take photos that can be interpolated to 100MP.

We're reaching out to Gionee to clarify the situation and will let you know once we receive a response. Feel free to check back often.
