Full specs sheet for the 5-inch, $199 Asus ZenFone 2 leaks out
The Asus ZenFone 2 announcement was one of the most pleasant surprises at the CES expo last month, not least because it touted pretty decent specs for a pretty low, $199 price. Subsequently, it turned out that this tag won't be for the version with the 5.5" 1080p display, but rather for the more pedestrian 5-incher with HD 720p resolution.

Still a good deal, though, as a full specs list of the 5" ZenFone 2 has now leaked out, to match the leaked photos of the handset the other day. The 5-incher is denoted with model number ZE500CL, and will be powered by Intel's previous generation Atom Z2560 chipset, clocked at 1.6 GHz, and paired with 2 GB RAM. We've also got an 8 MP rear shooter, 2 MP frontal one, and a decent 2500 mAh battery to keep the lights on. Not too shabby, but nothing impressive either.

Yeah.. No thing special here! BLU and Lenovo has much better phones with cheaper price. I tried BLU phones and they are so amazing with decent price. Now, I am worrying about 5.5 version with 4 g ram. What is the real price of this variant?

+1 here !! .. Exactly what I thought when i read this !! This is nothing more than Zenfone 5 .. Just addition of Android L & a bigger battery !! .. otherwise, its like buying one generation old device that too at slightly higher price !! Not very sure but even Zenfone 5 has LPDDR3 2GB RAM ..

i am so SO annoyed that the phone industry is force feeding people larger sized phones... wtf over. i mean just because i don't want my phone to be an entire half inch larger I have to sacrificec HALF my specs? (my hands are only about 5.5-6 inches from palm to finger tip - measured by my Nexus 5 lol)

Outdated hardware. They should have kept just two versions if 5.5 inch.

I don;t really trust this specs leaks. Because compare to the last year Zenfone 5 the specs look similiar. Beside the battery all specs are the same, if they do launch this version of Zenfone 2 with the price of 200$ It iw worthless upgrade from the last year. I'm still waiting for the release of the 4Gb variant.

Dont blv these leaks. Go and see linus tech tips video. They clearly says that 1080p 2gb 5.5 version is 199 and there will be a 720p and 4gb version in less and more than $199 So wait for the release before judging.

Phonearena sucks! Read gsmarena's post about this model. It will be less than $199 bcz 1080p 2gb 5.5" version is for $199

That's the crux of the issue: Asus apparently misled the reporters at CES.

So I take it back....I don't see where anyone has attributed the $199 figure to a trusted news source.
