First OnePlus 5 dual camera samples: a ton of detail and beautiful portraits

The OnePlus 5 has got a dual camera system with a secondary telephoto lens that can take portrait pictures with blurred backgrounds. Yep, just like the iPhone 7 Plus.

But this does not mean that the actual quality of the images is the same.

That is why to best understand the performance of a camera, we turn to... pictures taken with it. The OnePlus 5 has got a 16-megapixel main Sony sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens, and the telephoto one features a 20-megapixel Sony sensor with an f/2.6 lens. Here are the official camera samples.

The images look great. OnePlus says it applies some clever machine learning to know what type of a picture you are taking and the phone will then apply proper editing to enhance its looks. We would say that the images even have a bit of a film vibe going on.

While the first set of pictures were the official samples taken by OnePlus itself, here are a few pictures taken in real-life situations. The amount of detail is truly impressive, don't you think?

" The OnePlus 5 dual camera explained, or why two cameras is better than one" Apple already explained it a year ago.

I have to say I'm disappointed, it's basically the same display. Camera is better but the stabilisation at 4K is just awful. Impressed by the battery life, but not much else sadly, add that this costs almost £200 more than the original OnePlus 3 is not great.
