Firmware update for Nokia Lumia 1520 exterminates the bugs

Firmware update for Nokia Lumia 1520 exterminates the bugs
The Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet is currently the highest spec'd phone in the Windows Phone universe. But that doesn't mean that issues can't pop up. Nokia is pushing out a firmware update for the device. The new version for the U.S. is 1028.3534.1347.2001. In Europe, the new version is 1028.3562.1402.00xx. The only item under the changelist is "General fixes and improvements (General performance and usability improvements)".

There are some with the device who believe that the Nokia Lumia 1520 is lacking in the video capture department. Perhaps this update will take care of any problems in that area which might be affecting the way videos are recorded on the handset.

If you own the Nokia Lumia 1520, keep your eye peeled for the update. Once you have installed it, let us know any changes you've spotted to your phablet by dropping your comments in the box below.

Do new L1520s purchased in the near future (say, next week) have the update already installed?

I haven't checked to see if its ready yet.. I'll keep you posted... Boy, it sure is nice to actually have some nice, cool, mature Android buddies on PA... You, and Dark Jedi, are pretty mature...

The most annoying bug I have with my 1520 is the screen brightness dimming bug, which kicks the screen brightness down unwantedly even if you have it set to max, with auto off.. It's super, super annoying... The major screen sensitivity issue is something that you get used to with use, and we've already had a few slight fixes for that... ....................... So let's pray that there's a fix for the SBDB in this patch...

I love updates that fixes bugs. That's an interesting error and the first time I heard of this sort of bug. I'm guessing it happens even with your battery sufficiently charged? Because I know that my Note II auto dims when your battery drops to a specific percentage even if you have it on full and not auto dim. Anyway I hope it gets fixed and let us know if it does! I'm still longing to have my first windows phone lol.

What about LG G2? If I remember correctly you wanted that one at one point ... I'm thinking about trying a windows phone as well just the tiles setup bugs me lol

haha good memory. You're right, before I was looking at the G2 and the Nexus 5 as well. After thinking it over for a while, I decided that I was happy with my Note II. If I stay with Sprint, I'll keep my Note II and upgrade next year and if I move to T-Mobile, I'll most likely be looking into a Sony flagship (Z2?!) if not windows phone (Nexus 5 is still in the air too since it's got a great price!).

Just get the Icon, 1520, or wait for newer 4th Gen WP8.1-0xxxx devices to come out.... Try something new.

I'd love to try the newer gen of windows phone since unfortunately T-Mobile (Sprint doesn't even carry WP lol except the midranged htc wp8) doesn't carry either the 1520 or the Icon (as far as I know). They have the Lumia 925 which is also a good phone, but really dislike the funnel shaped camera hump on that phone ): I'll hold out for the newer gen flagship from Nokia.

You can get a 1520 or 1020 from AT&T, unlock it and run it in T-Mobile.

Yeah, this happens on a full charge.. This isn't a setting, or normal function, it's a well defined bug.... I even witnessed devices in the store doing the same thing..

Tired of android and my Galaxy S2. considering moving to another phone. Unable to decide between Android and Windows Phone. Other choices would be Motorola Moto G / Nexus 5 or Lumia 1320 / 1520. Love to buy the 1520 but that is too much of a stretch on my budget. Dont want to be limited by the Android limitations again on either the Moto G or Nexus 5. What do i do?

Your screen doesn't dim a few seconds after you unlock your device? Do you have your auto adjust off, and brightness set to high?

Shortcomings on the device are too many. 1) This update didn't show up on mine. 2) Previous update didn't solve screen oversensitivity. It means i can't type anything without doing something wrong 3) OS shortcomings include: a) can't access SD files b) Office mobile is unable to read SD card files and Office password protected files; d) lacks traditional chinese input with pinyin (but it's sold in Asia at full price): e) Skype won't allow to transfer files or videos; f) no file manager; g) no proper mail aggregator (i have 8 big tiles on my screen.....a mess); h) no swiping keyboard and typing + oversensitive screen + slow character recognition make it a nightmare to write long emails or reports. Inserting passwords is a nightmare (20 times sometimes before i get it right). What it does well is pictures, videos and gaming (but it gets very very hot). But for that i could have bought a point and shoot camera at a much cheaper price. Fairly disappointing considering price and target customer Nokia is pointing at.
