Facebook launches Events app for iOS, Android version coming soon
Adding to its recent app publishing spree, Facebook debuted a new application called 'Events'. It's an app that caters specifically to those that use the social network as their events calendar. According to Facebook, more than 100 million people have this practice, so it makes sense that the feature has been consolidated into a single place to keep up with nearby events and find new things to do in their area.
Launching Events lets you quickly catch up on things your friends are interested in, recently published events by Pages you follow, and updates from events you are interested in or attending. Events can be browsed by time, location, and personal interests.
There's also an interactive map where places hosting events are marked, along with a calendar that lets you check which days have events and which are free. Calendars from your deice can be imported and viewed alongside Facebook events, making it easier to make plans. Of course, you can also search for events in any city, which is useful for planning trips.
The Facebook Events app is available now in the Apple App Store for U.S. users, with an Android version coming soon.
