Canada getting the LG Optimus 4X HD this fall
The LG Optimus 4X HD has already been launched in Europe and Asia and one of the next launch spots for the device will be Canada. Some time this fall, which means as soon as September, the Korean tech giant will be offering this high-end smartphone through at least one of the major Canadian carriers, such as Rogers, Bell or TELUS. The tip, from a source for Mobile Syrup, adds that LG's first quad-core handset will be launched in white.

Can the LG Optimus 4X HD compete with the Samsung Galaxy S III in Canada? The phone is equipped with a 4.7 inch True HD- IPS LCD display (using a true RGB matrix, no Pentile arrangement) with resolution of 720 x 1280 and a pixel density of 312ppi. A quad-core 1.5GHz Tegra 3 is under the hood with 1 GB of RAM on board. An 8MP camera on back captures video at 1080p while the 1.3MP camera takes self-portraits and enables video chat. There should be good batter life with the 2150mAh battery and there is 21Mbps HSPA connectivity and 16GB of storage. Android 4.0 is aboard.

Depending on how competitively LG prices this handset, the LG Optimus 4X HD could do quite well for LG in Canada in the face of some tough competition from Samsung, and later on in the quarter, Apple.
