BlackBerry Z10 is the BlackBerry 10 model most in use
Even though BlackBerry had to write off nearly a billion dollar's worth of BlackBerry Z10 units that were collecting dust in the warehouse during the third quarter, and another $2.7 billion the following quarter, that particular model dominates the BlackBerry 10 platform globally. The data, based on the number of BlackBerry 10 devices that downloaded a free checklist app in BlackBerry World called Stuff I Need, reveals that the BlackBerry Z10 is the most used phone on the platform today.

According to the data, the BlackBerry Z10 was responsible for 62.2% of the BlackBerry 10 models active last month. The handset was the first BlackBerry 10 model launched and is a completely all-touch model. The QWERTY equipped BlackBerry Q10 was next, making up 23.5% of BlackBerry 10 phones in use last month. Perhaps the most disappointing stat, but not surprising, is the 8.1% share owned by the BlackBerry Z30. The current flagship 'Berry, this is the first model to come from the Canadian OEM that sports a 5 inch screen. By the time this model was launched, it was apparent that BlackBerry 10 had failed to lift the company from the hole it had landed in, tempering support for the model. The BlackBerry Q5, a lower priced QWERTY supported BlackBerry 10 phone for emerging markets, owned 6.3% of the BlackBerry 10 market in December.

The next BlackBerry 10 model cold be the first produced by Foxconn under a five year contract it inked with the manufacturer. The all-touch phone, nicknamed the BlackBerry Jakarta, is headed first for Indonesia and is expected to be an entry-level model. Supposedly, there are two high-end BlackBerry 10 handsets being designed by BlackBerry that are aimed at the U.S. market.
