Best Buy offering the Sprint HTC Hero for $49.99
In the next few weeks, we will see a plethora of high end Android phones getting launched. The parade actually has started with the HTC Droid Incredible which was released last week by Verizon and Big Red's resellers. U.S. Cellular will soon be offering the HTC Desire and the EVO 4G will be launched in June by Sprint and its partners like Best Buy. As we reported, the latter retailer has already started to advertise the 4G handset. To make room for these higher margin devices, models that have been around for awhile are being cut in price to spur demand. For example, Best Buy is cutting the price of the Sprint version of the Hero to $49.99 with a 2 year contract. That is quite a discount from the prior cost of $179,99. If you are in the market for a new Android handset, and you don't need to have all the latest bells and whistles, you would still be getting a great Android phone for only $50.
