Asus ZenWatch 3 now receiving Android Wear 2.0 (UPDATED)

UPDATE: It looks like Asus mistakenly tweeted the announcement. The company backtracked on the original statement and said Android Wear 2.0 for Asus ZenWatch 3 is slated to arrive at the end of May.

Although rumor has it that Asus plans to kill the ZenWatch series due to poor sales, that doesn't prevent the company from keep supporting the current smartwatch models.

When Android Wear 2.0 was launched back in February, Google confirmed the ZenWatch 2 and 3 would receive the update. Asus was more precise later on and announced both smartwatches should get the update in Q2 2017.

Well, it appears that Asus has already started seeding the highly-anticipated Android Wear 2.0 update for the ZenWatch 3. The information has been confirmed by Asus UK, which said it started the rollout yesterday, May 15.

Even though Android Wear 2.0 may be available for a small number of Asus ZenWatch 3 units at first, the availability of the update is likely to expand to additional countries in the coming days.

The next on the list of upgradeable Asus smartwatches, the ZenWatch 2 might receive the update as well by the end of this month, if the Taiwanese company intends to keep its promise.
