Asus ZenPad 8.0 is now being updated to Android 7.0 Nougat

The Asus ZenPad 8.0 Z380M made its debut on the market exactly one year ago, which is why it was shipped with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board. Since it's a relatively new tablet, it would make sense for Asus to offer another major Android update by the end of this year.

However, Asus did not mention anything about an Android 7.0 Nougat update, so most of us assume that it's highly unlikely to happen. Well, it appears that there might be hope for those who bought the ZenPad 8.0, as Asus has kicked off the rollout of Android 7.0 Nougat for the tablet.

Before going into details, it's worth mentioning that Asus released three ZenPad 8.0 models: Z380KL, Z380M, and Z380C. Two of them, namely Z380KL and Z380C were launched back in 2015, and they'll probably remain on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

On the other hand, starting today, the Asus ZenPad 8.0 Z380M is eligible for an Android 7.0 Nougat upgrade. According to Asus, the update contains one of Google's security patches, but there's no mention of which one. There's also a mention of “other updates,” so there might be other small change included as well.
