Asus ZenFone 5Z will be released in the US in August, ROG Phone to be out a bit later
Earlier this week, we discovered the ZenFone 5Z on Asus' US website, next to a price tag that was hard to believe: $1,999. So we reached out to Asus, asking about the phone and its US release. Unsurprisingly, the company confirmed that the $1,999 price listing was a mistake (that's been corrected). Furthermore, Asus told us that the ZenFone 5Z - first announced in February and already available to buy in Europe - is going to be released stateside in mid or late August.

Asus has yet to announce the price of the ZenFone 5Z for the US market. However, looking at its European prices (starting at €500), it's probably safe to assume that the new smartphone will cost around $500 unlocked.

Asus also told us that its gaming-oriented ROG Phone (announced in early June) should be launched in late August or early September. Once again, pricing details haven't been revealed. In any case, the unique Asus ROG Phone will almost certainly be more expensive than the Zenfone 5Z.

Do you plan to buy any of Asus' two new smartphones once they're released in the US?
