Hopefully, this isn't some mistake and the
ZenFone 3 Max is indeed getting the highly-anticipated Android Nougat update. Asus announced today that a major OS update is now available for one of its ZenFone models.
However, while the name of the thread clearly states that the update is meant for the ZenFone 3 Max (model ZC553KL), the release notes mention another model:
Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL).
According to Asus, the
Android 7.1.1 Nougat update should take about one week to propagate to all smartphones, so those who do not receive the update right away should head over to Settings / Menu / System update and try to force-push it manually.
Unfortunately, there's no changelog for the update, just a short mention that it will upgrade the OS to Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and that it's available starting today, May 15.
The
ZenFone 3 Max is not even close to a high-end smartphone, and it's been released back in November. The fact that Asus has decided to provide it with an Android 7.1.1 Nougat is really a miracle, especially that many of its more powerful smartphones have yet get the update.
