Apple-branded over-ear headphones could arrive alongside iPhone XI

Last year, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed in one of his reports that Apple was working on a set of premium over-ear headphones. Then, towards the beginning of summer, a separate report pointed towards a release sometime this year. Now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this launch will happen in the “second half” of 2019.

As reported previously, the headphones will allegedly make use of Apple’s dedicated audio chips and incorporate noise cancelation technology in addition to always-on Siri. Apple may also include some health-related features, although this remains purely speculative at the moment.

Not too much is know about the design but previous reports have suggested that they will sit above the current range of Beats-branded headphones when it comes to price. This means that a price tag of around $450 or potentially even higher could be on the cards.

If Apple goes ahead with its 2019 release, the new headphones could arrive alongside the iPhone XI series and an updated HomePod. The Cupertino giant is also said to be working on next-gen AirPods which will include always-on Siri, water resistance, an improved audio chip, and potentially a built-in heart rate monitor. But according to recent reports, this accessory will arrive within the first half of the year, possibly at Apple's expected March event.
