Apple iPad Air 2 to keep the typical 10-hour battery life, despite its record thin design

Battery life is no longer one of the greatest advantages of Apple’s tablets, as now Android, and even Windows slates, can run videos all day long before dying out. Apple just bragged that it is sticking with the 10-hour battery formula for the iPad Air 2, which is plenty, and in line with the competition. Given the record slim, 6.1mm iPad Air 2 profile, however, achieving the same battery life endurance is actually a big deal. We'll wait for the first disassembly of the Air 2 to learn about the battery capacity, but something tells us that a vast part of the guts inside the 6.1mm chassis are battery components.

I think that 10 hours of battery is plenty for a tablet. It's phones that I want more battery life out of. I rarely ever take my tablet out of the house, so I'm always near a charger. I have only once in the past 6 months needed to charge up my tablet while using it. With a phone where I am often out, I would like to not have to worry about charging because I'm often not in a place where it is convenient to charge my phone.

I must admit that the iPad battery life is very good. Even though it is old, I use a iPad 2 and consistently get 15 hours of screen time no matter what I do. I hook it to Wi-Fi to play CSR Racing, Asphalt 8 and web browsing for around 4 hours a day total and battery has only dropped to 70%. I wonder if the newer iPads can touch the 15 hour mark.
