Android 7.0 starts rolling out for the unlocked Motorola Moto Z Play

1comment
The latest word from Motorola had the unlocked Moto Z Play receiving the update to Android 7.0 in March. But it appears that the device has started receiving the update OTA right now according to some screenshots that we have seen. The size of the update is 1121.1MB, and includes the multi-window feature for multi-tasking, Unicode 9.0 emoji, the enhanced version of Doze that saves battery life, and more.

Once you receive the notification that the update has arrived, we strongly recommend that you connect to a Wi-Fi signal, and make sure that your battery is charged to 100%. If there is no Wi-Fi signal available, make sure that your cellular connection is strong. And if you forgot to charge up, just make sure that your phone is plugged in. You can try to pull the update out of your phone manually by going to Settings > System updates > Check for system update.

From what we can tell, the Verizon version of the phone (known as the Moto Z Play Droid) underwent some testing late last month with Android 7.0, and could receive the upodate shortly.
