Android 5.1 Lollipop lands on the HTC One M9 Developer Edition
Those of you packing the latest and greatest from HTC, a-la Developer Edition, which can be purchased directly from the manufacturer, should see Android 5.1 arriving via OTA.

HTC has been largely successful in keeping its products updated in a timely manner. The HTC One M9 Developer Edition is a SIM-unlocked device that also has an unlocked bootloader for those that like to tinker with ROMs and make apps.

The system update is about 800MB and is basically the same package that started getting pushed to Sprint customers at the beginning of the month. The official change log from HTC states improvements to battery performance, data performance, and call performance.

The firmware has been optimized for temperature management, and should feature some welcome camera performance improvements as well. HTC does say that the M9 will get a little warm while it processes the update, but users should not be alarmed.

We do not think the HTC One M9 Developer Edition is widely distributed, so updates are likely being offered to everyone at once.
