featured LG Tab-Book hands-on

With its top specs and slide-out QWERTY, the LG Tab-Book isn’t meant to compete with the iPad or the multitude of Android slates, but it can be a very tempting alternative to an Ultrabook, depending in the final price it launches at...

featured Sony Xperia Tablet Z hands-on

One of the most intriguing devices at this year's Mobile World Congress was definitely the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. The legendary Japanese company has tried its luck in tablets before with the Tablet S and Tablet P, but even though those models weren't so bad, they failed to generate any significant buzz. But it looks like Sony isn't willing to give up. The manufacturer is back once again with a new, and this time we believe it has a much bigger chance for success...

Lenovo IdeaPhone S720 hands-on

We found the device well-built, with ergonomic rounded corners, and a relatively thin chassis with soft-touch plastic on the back providing for a good grip. The camera is somewhat oddly placed at the upper left corner on the rear, so you have to keep that in mind not to cover it with your finger while taking a snap or shooting a video...

Asus Fonepad hands-on

The Asus Fonepad is actually very well built for its mere $249 price it will land at in the US. Sturdy anodized aluminum chassis wraps the internals, and the brushed metal finish makes it seem much more premium than your average Android slate. We understand Asus has to make it stand out to entice buyers to try out the Intel-powered Android variety, and we don't complain as its buyers can only profit by the premium looks and feel in the hand...

Alcatel One Touch Fire hands-on

The interface is rather intuitive, and we were able to locate the contact and calling apps quickly, as well as those for texts, media, Facebook and so on. the crown jewel is, of course the Firefox browser, which, if you are accustomed to the desktop counterpart will feel right at home here, too, and Mozilla promises the extensions you know and love to be present in its OS too...

Acer Liquid Z2 hands-on

The 3.5-inch touchscreen on the Acer Liquid Z2 is barely passable. Sure, it works, but the panel has a resolution of only 320 by 480 pixels, which explains why graphics on it look pixelated and small text is hard to read. Viewing angles are not that great either and colors wash out with the slightest tilt...

LG Optimus L3 II hands-on

The Optimus L3 II is of pretty small size, which makes it suitable for teen hands. Something tells us that ladies might also like its petite footprint. What few will be satisfied with, on the other hand, is the smartphone’s low-res IPS LCD display. Spreading 240 by 320 pixels across 3.2 inches of real estate gives us a disappointing figure of only 125ppi – low enough to bring tears to your eyes. Oh well, at least the screen exhibits some pretty decent viewing angles and good colors...

Asus announces Fonepad - a $249 7" Android slate powered by Intel Atom

Asus announced the Fonepad today, an affordable 7" Android Jelly Bean tablet with 3G voice and mobile data that place a smartphone in it. We were pleasantly surprised how the Acer Liquid E1 feels in the hand. Granted, it is all plastic, but the design is pretty solid, and the patterned back doesn't attract fingerprints.
