Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 users run into problems with the camera

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy S5 users run into problems with the camera
Verizon owners with the Samsung Galaxy S5 are running into a major problem with their camera. Even though it works perfectly for the first few days, it eventually starts malfunctioning. Whether you are trying to take a picture for Instagram, or just looking to snap a shot of your cat, the camera refuses to work and reveals a warning message that states: "Warning: Camera Failed."

You can try to restart or factory reset your new Galaxy S5, but it will be to no avail. And at this stage, there appears to be no fix in the works. Your best shot (so to speak) is to bring your Samsung Galaxy S5 back to Verizon, and find a sympathetic ear.

Once word spreads, or the number of such incidences increase, we could expect to see a software update for the device that will fix the camera. And the scary thing is that this is also happening to Verizon customers with the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Are you a Verizon customer with a Samsung Galaxy S5 or another Galaxy S model, and are receiving on-screen notices that the camera has failed? Hit us up with your story by commenting in the box below.

You are correct, Verizon is pricey. You get what you pay for, if you travel Verizon is a must. However, if you are a student, under employed, or indigent, I would not recommend them. Is like financing a BMW and you only making a mere $50,000/yr.

Chill with that, it's just a joke you don't have to get all worked up about it. It's a problem and I'm sure Samsung will fix it. No need to bring up other OEMs there

Probably not a Verizon bug. If you Google "samsung camera failed" you will see hits going back to Galaxy S2 times and on wifi only models too. Samsung is not very good about fixing problems.

T-mobile phones are the best. Always the fastest to update, and they don't take any of the features. I bought the tmobile S5 last night, not only that they kept the download booster, but they also kept the Samsung logo on the back and didn't brand it like Verizon and at&t do

While I mostly agree, it is worthwhile to mention to those that have or want this phone that the boost feature is hidden not removed on the non the Verizon and AT&T models. You have to download a different launcher and add shortcut and it's there to add. It's been confirmed to work on the AT&T model I don't have full word on the Verizon one, but it's there. Nothing on if the Sprint version has the feature somewhere to be found or not. Although, if T-Mobile is best for you, get that model and save some frustration.

In Finland you can't even get locked phones. Even if you buy it from a carrier, it's unlocked and the carriers don't touch the software or hardware. Though here you have to pay the full prize on a phone even if you get a 2 year contract with it.

Why buy phone from a carrier if you have to pay a full price?

I buy from store that give me the best price or free gifts. Carrier price is about $200 less due to a 12 months or 24 months line contract.

Most of the carriers still offer better installment options, like you can pay the phone in 36 months and still the overall money you pay will be the same. From a retailer store installments can have high interest rates. Like only in 12 months the overall money you pay can be 100 euros more than it would normally be. So I guess that's one reason. Though I would still hope we could get it cheaper from a carrier :)

Even in South Africa, the phones are unlocked even on contract. the only catch is, if the phone needs a repair but you had another carriiers sim card in it less than 15 minutes before the phone goes faulty, the carrier wont cover the warranty.

Here in Mexico you have the right to ask the carriers for the unlocking code at anytime if you're in pre-paid mode and at the end of your contract if you have one.

Though, recent changes in legislations are now forcing telcel to sell unlocked devices in pre-paid mode. Only downside you still get all the bloatware from carriers, except on nexus phones.

If T-Mobile phones are "alway the first to update", then why was it that their GS4 didn't receive the 4.3 update until the Sprint GS4 was getting its 4.4 update? Then got the 4.4 update about a month after the other carriers?

The "camera failed" issue is not new to Samung. Sometimes you can reboot the phone or tablet and the camera will work again. Eventually, Samsung will issue an update to fix it.

This has happened a few times on my Verizon GS3, but has so far been remedied by a simple restart.
4.3 has made my phone superficially faster, but led to more glitches and major leggy hangups

how would it be Verizon's problem?
Samsung has to build a Galaxy S5 specifically for use on the VZW network so it's Samsung's problem with the manufacturing of that particular model.

verizon puts their own pre-installed apps and other bloatware to the S5, which can cause software issues if not done properly.

oh, i know that but Verizon's bloatware doesn't touch sytem apps like the camera. a totally baseless assumption like that is just reaching for straws in order to blame this on Verizon. Samsung has already confirmed that it's a hardware failure on their part and you can call them to get an afflicted S5 replaced.

Samsung really dropped the ball with the GS5.

You wouldn't get a whiff of this from the GS2, note 1 to the gs4 and note 2.

Then all of a sudden they have loose home buttons on the note 3 and than this.

You can say they have pulled an HTC, Sony, or Nokia. Meaning they choked like those companies always choke.

A minor issue can disturb you compain hugelly becuse, more than 50% people have moved on mini devices. Many people are facing this camera problem, it must be fix by the company.
tell me anyone that how many people fix this issue by there selves, it should be clear by the company.
They are losing the trust of customers by the minor problem.
Disturbance during the using is not a good.
Many people are using this device for personal and business modules, they have a lead to trust on thier trusted devices but if they face any problem in their trusted devices , may again they move their selves upon other trusted devices. This is the very thing that makes me thank all that is holy that Google provides us with a Nexus line that circumvents most of this nonsense.
