Rumor: Sony Xperia Z5 coming in September with 5.5-inch FHD screen, SD-810, 3GB RAM
According to serial tipster Leaksfly, the Sony Xperia Z5 will be unveiled in September. The handset is rumored to be equipped with a 5.5-inch screen, which is a slight bump from the 5.2-inch screen found on the Sony Xperia Z3+ and Sony Xperia Z4. The screen will feature a resolution of 1080 x 1920. That works out to a pixel density of 401ppi.

Leaksfly says that the Xperia Z5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 SoC. That dovetails perfectly with a User Agent Profile we told you about last week, that had the Xperia Z5 employing the controversial Qualcomm chipset. The Snapdragon 810 contains an octa-core CPU and the Adreno 430 GPU. 3GB of RAM will be inside along with 32GB of native storage. The back to front camera combo will be 20.7MP/8MP.  The tipster says that the Xperia Z5 will come with a fingerprint scanner.

Sony is reportedly planning on getting the Xperia Z5 out in September to compete with the Apple iPhone 6s, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Last week, we told you that Sony was rumored to be prepping two new high-end Android handsets, the Sony Xperia S60 and Sony Xperia S70. The pricey handsets, rumored to cost as much as $919 USD, are supposed to be unveiled before September's IFA show. The only specs leaked so far show that each model will come with 32GB of internal storage.

As usual with a rumor of this nature, we suggest you take it with the proverbial grain of salt.

the sensor should be the new imx230 sensor, which should be much better regardless the number of megapixels has not increased (still the highest mp count on the market, and there's no reason to increase it). The processor is still the best cpu you can get from qualcomm and one of the best available. I agree that the screen should be quad hd.

Perhaps you should read beyond the title...

The new high-end devices Sony is supposed to release are rumored to be the XPeria S60 and S70. We don't even know if this is one of the flagships.

Nah. They'll be prepping the Z7 by that time. lol. Sony cranks out flagships like its nothing even when new hardware or tech is not even ready.

Dear Sony,

Do you know what would be better than this approach? Literally anything.

Sincerely,

Any smartphone with SD 810 will have no looks. Sony should've learned this by now.

Have they not learned any freaking thing? The camera is the only weak point of the Z3 in my opinion and usage. Why not include this technology floating around called optical image stabilization and since you make some very awesome mirrorless cameras step up the game in the camera interface and bring some of the full manual controls right into the stock camera app. Sony, have you seen what LG just did for mobile photography? This will Ne another waste of opportunity from Sony.

The sad part about all this is that Sony makes these wonderful sensors for all these great cameras (GS6, G4, iP6+) and they can't even make it work out on their own phones.

Sony said they are not selling mobile devision, if they keep launching phones like this, there would be nothing left to sell.

The SD 810 is the death blow for any smartphone this year. Qualcomm should have dumped it a few months ago. Why are companies still using this chip?

It costs money to invest in creating your own chips. Only large and diversified companies like Samsung, LG, and Huawei have the finances and resources to do this.

5.5inch you say. IS that not making things worse, especially with Sony's reputation with bezel.

Sony phones have some of the smallest bezels of the main brands. You're talking s**t.

If this is rumour turns out to be true then the boss of Sony Mobile needs to be sacked. Big mistake releasing this device with these spec's in September, when if they just wait 2 more months, then they could release it with the SD820 and put in 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.

The very first devices that's packing the SD820 is scheduled for November, so only 2 months extra. By that time, this device will seem out of date after only a few months.

I'm hoping the Nexus Devices will release with SD820 as they will release in November.

Yeah, if this rumor is true then: What the heck Sony??? I was rooting for this company and the Xperia Z line. It is most disappointing news. SD810? what is that? 3 GB of RAM? Same omnibalance build? FHD display 5.5? what's the edge in this Z5??? How can you compete with Samsung, LG, and other high end phones??? Disappointing...really really disappointing. Until you do something with your next Xperia Z line and the word called "INNOVATION", I will not buy anymore Sony product.

What I want is refresh new design, QHD 5.5" Display, Optical Image Stabilizer, Fingerprint Scanner, SD820, 4 GB RAM, bigger battery life, and wireless Q charging. Don't ditch the water and dust proof.

Come one man! Where are your designers???
